Nadia’s life and work are an inspiration to many. Her ability to transform trauma into personal growth and her strong belief in everyone’s talents make her a powerful example of what is possible when we commit to inclusion and equality. Nadia’s impact extends beyond her immediate community; she is setting in motion a movement to create change worldwide.
Nadia van den Heuvel – van den Brink brought a challenge to medical specialists due to her premature birth. She grew up in a single-parent family and ended up in special education because of her disability. Instead of learning anything, the focus here was mainly on finding a day job. To find her place in the world, she lived for a short, intense time in a children’s home in Roosendaal. Want to know exactly what this was like? Then please refer to my future book, which can be ordered on this website.

Don't try your best to fit in when you were born to excel
Where other children fantasised of a future as pilots or veterinarians, Nadia dreamed of a future without WIA, Wajong or other safety net schemes.
For years, Nadia was among the top six wheelchair dancers in the world, with the discipline and dedication of top-level sport benefiting her in her working career as well. She began her career with a work experience placement with the judiciary and quickly climbed to become a business administration consultant with The Public Prosecutor’s Office. Meanwhile, with unwavering determination, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in IT. This impressive mix of sporting and professional successes reflects her extraordinary perseverance and versatility.
Driven by her deep-rooted vision of an inclusive labour market, Nadia believes in the power of one chance to make someone’s talent shine. Her boundless passion for assisting individuals with a distance to the labour market drove her and her husband Herbert to found the impactful multimedia agency Ictoria in 2019, where people with a distance to the labour market are seen for their talents. The mission of this pioneering initiative is to support companies with a social and impactful vision to gain digital visibility and reach their target audience.
Over time, the line between the multimedia company and the reintegration agency blurred, creating Xtoria. Under this label, Nadia offers personalised support to people distanced from the labour market during their reintegration process. Unlike traditional methods, customisation is provided here. Together with industry-related job coaches, she explores individual opportunities that perfectly match each candidate’s needs. This person-centred approach has already found four hundred people the way to a sustainable, happy and independent life.
According to Nadia, an accessible workplace should be the norm for every organisation. That is why she is ready to support companies that want to excel in inclusive policies. Her direct approach enables any organisation to become more inclusive while achieving maximum impact.
With her inspiring lectures on major stages and interactive workshops, Nadia encourages companies to actively pursue inclusive business. Her real-life examples show that this is often simpler than thought.
